SANSEA is a wahine-owned small business, locally crafted on Kaua‘i by Chelsy since 2017. Inspired by the Hawaiian Islands, SANSEA features hand-picked shell jewelry and accessories designed with intention and care.
MEET THE OWNER
Aloha, I’m Chelsy—an entrepreneur, full-time college student, dog lover, surfer, artist, and small business owner. I love surfing, traveling, trying new foods, spending time with my sweet dog Paika, collecting shells, and of course, creating jewelry.
Born and raised on the island of Kaua‘i, I grew up in Hawai‘i with two local parents who were surfers. Naturally, the ocean became my second home. My childhood was spent at the beach—surfing, swimming, picking shells, and playing in the sand, day after day. Through life’s many seasons, surfing and collecting shells have remained constant and continue to be my most cherished pastimes.
I’ve always known I wanted to be a jeweler. My love for collecting shells and turning them into jewelry began in childhood. Around the age of ten, I was introduced to the world of jewelry making by my mom, who was a jeweler at the time. I started out creating colorful beaded bracelets and simple shell rings, using hardware-store glue to attach shells to ring molds.
By the time I was 13, I spent much of my teenage years alongside my mother at craft shows and art walks, helping showcase her jewelry and shell art. After years of shows and creative growth, I eventually began developing my own jewelry line. With the unwavering support of my friends, family, and loyal customers, my small business, SANSEA, was born during my freshman year of high school.
SANSEA is rooted in creating affordable, high-quality jewelry made to be worn every day. Each piece is handcrafted with waterproof, tarnish-resistant 14k gold-filled metals and uniquely hand-picked, ethically sourced shells from the beaches of Kaua‘i. Every shell is carefully cleaned and prepared to meet my standards of quality and care. I’m truly grateful for the love and support of this community—it means more than you know.
SANSEA is a one-woman business run entirely by me, Chelsy. From managing social media and capturing content to designing and handcrafting each piece of jewelry, every detail is created with care by my own two hands. From sourcing materials to packaging and shipping your order, I’m involved in every step from start to finish.
As a full-time college student, your support truly means the world to me. Every purchase helps fund my education and allows me to continue building this dream. I’m endlessly grateful to everyone who supports SANSEA in any way—your belief in my work makes all of this possible.
As a way of giving back to my home and community in Hawai‘i, I make annual donations to local organizations such as the Kaua‘i Humane Society. These gifts honor animals in need and commemorate my sweet dog, Kona, who passed in May 2024. Kona brought immeasurable joy to my life, and our 11 years together remain a cherished gift.
